International Fraud Awareness Week 2024
International Fraud Awareness Week 2024 will be observed globally from November 17 to 23. Organized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), this week-long campaign focuses on raising awareness about fraud and educating individuals, businesses, and communities on ways to prevent it. Each year, Fraud Week provides a platform for sharing insights, strategies, and resources on fraud prevention as fraud cases evolve with technological advancements.
The theme for this year emphasizes that “the face of fraud is changing” due to shifts in technology, social media influence, and an increase in identity-related crimes. Fraud Awareness Week encourages collaboration among organizations and public entities to improve fraud prevention practices and stay proactive against emerging risks. Key activities include hosting educational events, sharing anti-fraud materials on social media, and conducting fraud risk assessments within organizations. Resources such as infographics, videos, and checklists are available through ACFE to help organizations spread awareness and engage employees in fraud prevention activities.
This week, participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #FraudWeek to amplify their messages on social platforms. Public and private organizations worldwide are expected to participate by hosting workshops, discussions, and awareness campaigns to educate people on fraud risks and prevention techniques.
